Secretary’s Report:  Minutes from October meeting approved.

Treasurer’s Report   There is currently $12, 609.36 in the general account and       $8919.31 in student accounts.

We still have not been billed bill for marching shoes. After several other outstanding bills are paid we will have approximately $6,200 in the general account.

No hassle has brought in over $7,000! This is a rousing success! Donette suggests we get the concert band kids together to get their no hassle info out—there will be a trip in the spring for the concert band.     DonetteYeilding can still get more letters, envelopes, etc. to people who would like to send out more. There is no deadline on this!  The boosters thank Donette for all her hard work on this ongoing fundraiser.

Director’s Report---Mr. Poole is at marching band rehearsal tonight.  Written report:  The band just finished our second competition and has continued to improve. Our overall effect and visual scores have improved quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. We are looking forward to putting the finishing touches on “Force Field” tonight and tomorrow. The show should look quite different this weekend. In preparation for band night, we will be rehearsing with the middle school on Wed. and Fri. mornings of this week.  There will be some changes to the buses for this weekend.  Mr. Steger and I will be switching buses.  Also the chaperones, Mr. Steger and I will be meeting to review our procedures prior to our departure on Saturday.

Old Business

§  Props    Thank you to all who have helped with the props. All 3 of the 8-ft. cubes are done, one 12-ft. cube is ready and we are still working on the others. We will be working on the cubes after tonight’s meeting, tomorrow 6-? and   Wed. 6-?  ANYONE can do this—no sewing, nothing fancy—we need help! We will be happy to have your help for as little or as much time as you have to give.  Goal:  have ready by Fri.  Next project:  screens for the guard. The screens should not be as difficult as the cubes. Michelle Spurlock has been working on the guard uniforms and flags—thank you, Michelle!

§  Pit Crew    We need more help! It takes time to put cubes together, and it takes 3-4 people to move the cubes…..we’re going to ask if we can send the props about ½ hr. before the kids so they can start unloading and assembling.  WE NEED MORE HELP getting these props on and off the field. Feel free to help anytime you see us working on the props.  Or come to a rehearsal to get familiar with the props.  This is a great way to get involved without committing too much time.

§   Meals for the band students…going very well. Thank you to Donna Schriver for getting the food together and thanks to all the volunteers who have been baking and serving. Korbin wants to make lasagna……which day would be best?  We will get this on the meal calendar. Any suggestions for a different meal? Grilled cheese and soup……all seemed to agree that this was a good idea. Please let us know if you have a griddle we can use. Thank you for sending the desserts—keep ‘em coming!

§  Band Night –Oct. 9  We have a list of volunteers, but we need more. We need people to man tables, paint faces, assemble meals and more…students are welcome and encouraged to help.  We’ve sold over 200 sandwiches.   We need people to bring coolers and tables.   Rain is predicted in the long range forecast…..we need a rain plan…..even if it’s just a table to pick up tickets and meals.   Tina will see if we can reserve the cafeteria in case of rain. Our goal is to clean up by 6:00 so we can see the performance.

NEW BUSINESS

New chaperone process:  Some inappropriate things were said on a bus recently…..anything in question should be referred to Mr. Poole. We will make procedures for different situations clear to chaperones. Chaperones please feel free to ask questions and get clarifications from Michelle Spurlock or Mr. Poole.

Market Day—over $2200.00 in orders last month, which will be about $400.00 for us.

Looking Ahead:

Other business:   No marching show on Nov. 6 due to show schedule. Chaperoning will require ½ day off work for some people.

Sr. night:  band won’t be performing, could we do it another time? Thurs. Nov. 5  preview night maybe?

Fundraiser suggestion: Carole Tice :  digital scrapbook……they sell for about $65. This would make a great gift for directors or for the boosters to buy and have to show at events.

End-of-year marching party….This has been at the Springfield Bowling Alley in the past.  We need to start planning this………     Nov. 13 or 14 or Nov. 7 are possible dates.    Bethany Meyer will help get it going……Tina will get with section leaders and see what the kids are interested in.    Other ideas:  Maize Quest, YMCA.   Tina will check availability at Y and bowling alley….   Maize Quest seems expensive and difficult to supervise.

Next meeting will be Nov. 2, 7pm, SHS band room.  Jazz Fest planning meeting immediately following.
