Director’s Report
§
Trailer The white trailer was stolen from the parking
lot. It was found by natural resources police in or near a creek in a remote
area. The trailer has been returned. Some equipment, including some helmets and
3 black bags full of wood blocks, is still missing. The district will provide
new and better hitch locks and possibly paint to repair damage to the trailer.
§
Trip There is a letter ready to go out in the band
packets which summarizes details and payment schedule for the trip.
§
Leadership Camp Marisa Silva is our new Jr. Drum Major.
She, and all section leaders, are encouraged to go to leadership camp at
Westchester University in July. Applications are available in the band room.
The drum majors are paid for by the school. Band boosters provide scholarships
which cover about half the cost of the camp.
§
Marching Show We need some fabric with African
designs—colorful stripes, shapes, etc. for the show. Mr. Poole will get
some pictures to Bethany Meyer. Bethany has volunteered to pick up some
fabric samples for Mr. Poole. The music is being written and the show is moving
along. The section leaders will call the new band members and invite them to
practice. Student leaders are working on ideas for backdrops for the show.
§
Guard Uniforms The school has paid about $250.00 to have
uniforms designed. The uniforms will be manufactured, not hand-sewn, this year.
The uniforms will also be used for Indoor Guard. We will also order flags @
$10/each + the cost of the fabric.
Fundraising
- York Revolution Game,
June 12 We have 63 musicians performing the National Anthem and we’ve
sold over 250 tickets. We have 24-26 volunteers to work in the concession
stand. The trailer will be loaded on Wednesday, June 4, all ready to go to
the stadium. We will ask Linden to drive the trailer home on Friday after we
use it for Thursday’s graduation ceremony, and keep it until Thursday, June
12. Bethany Meyer will bring the white hats to the game if they have
not yet been delivered.
- Basket Bingo Sunday,
July 13 @ Shrewsbury Elementary School, doors open @ 3:30, games start @
5:00 We need students to set up at 2:00. Pat Macomber has volunteered
to be the caller. In lieu of a lighted bingo board we will use Power Point.
We will use cardboard cards and corn instead of paper cards. Food will be
set up in the lobby—we will not use the kitchen. The baskets have been
ordered. Please watch your email for donation requests, sponsorship
requests, etc. We will advertise the bingo along the parade routes. Ticket
cost: $12 advance/$15 at the door. The profit split will be
discussed—thinking of giving students $6/presold ticket at this point.
Bethany Meyer will email the advertisement to Donette Yeilding, Donette
will circulate via email.
Old Business
- Band Camp Dates
Mr. Poole will get band camp dates such as shoe-fitting, picture day, etc.
to Donette so that the band camp committee can look for volunteers for these
days.
- By-law revisions Pat
and George Macomber, Lorna Deibert and Donna Schriver are really working
hard on this. We need an accountant or an attorney to advise us on federal
tax laws.

marching rehearsals. If you have not sent it in yet, please
email your intent to Donna Schriver.

Freedom parade Sat, July 5, report time 3:30. Donna Schriver will

ring. Bethany will check with Laurie Johnson to see if Yuri got one.
