Fund Raising Report.
Ä Car Wash. July 14. Rain date is July 21. Lorna is looking for hoses, rags, etc. Many of the supplies are in the garage behind Mr. McGarvey’s office. Lorna still needs to contact Chic-fil-A.
Ä Market Day dates will be coming out in a promotional flyer or e-mail.
Ä No Hassle. Donette will be pulling the packets together. They will be ready for distribution at the next band rehearsal. Lorna said she would help with the distribution.
Ä After the Parent Surveys are returned, the Executive Committee will be pinning down at least one key person to be in charge of each fund raiser. Lorna will oversee all of them, but needs another person to take the lead.
Director’s Report.
Ä Still looking for another drill instructor. If you know of anyone, let Mr. McGarvey know.
Ä The marching band backdrop is ready to go into production: how to set up, move, etc.
Ä As of now, no need to worry about a P.A. platform for the show.
Ä Half of the show music has been passed out.
Ä Band Handbook agreement was not included with the packets. Mr. McGarvey will hand them out at the July 19 practice.
Ä Still no official word on the new high school band director.
Old Business.
Ä Steger Scholarship. Money is still coming in. Southern Elementary made a sizable donation. The business office will give up periodic updates. Donna is still trying to get support through the alumni association. Bonny Lutter will be doing a Public Service Announcement. Pat recommended tracking down recent band graduates by looking at old contact sheets. Donette said she would look into that.
Ä By Laws Update. If you have any ideas, please get them to Pat or Lorna.
Ä Non-profit status. Donna has the application and the web site. Will be working on it.
New Business.
Ä Band Camp. Will begin planning soon. A calendar will be assimilated and distributed. Last year’s schedule will be the template for this year.
Ä PIX on the 10th SHOES on the 6th. Jeannine said she would help with the shoes. Debbie will help with the pix. Pat requested that we use a walkie-talkie this year to save time. James said yes. Bethany and Sheryl Delp will be taking the lead with the food.
Ä Props. Linden Deibert will be taking the lead to get things started for the larger props. The goal will be to have something to work with by the start of band camp. Cheryl will be taking the lead on the personal standards.
Other Business
Ä Jeannine had sample gloves. She is expecting more to be sent to the school. She will meet with Mr. McGarvey to decide on gloves.
Ä Leadership Camp: As of now, only Sean Macomber and Jake Lutter have submitted forms for the scholarship. Drum majors’ fee is covered by Mr. McGarvey’s budget.
Ä Drum Corpse did not stay at SHS. It took too long for approval, etc. from the administration. They said they would keep us in mind and put us at the top of the list for next year. There are costs associated with this: custodial staff, use of gym, use of field and use of showers. Maybe Band Boosters can help with some of the costs.
Pat moved and Jeannine seconded the meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 7:57
NEXT MEETING: AUGUST 6 at 7:00 pm.
