Chris Poole is in his first year as band director at
Susquehannock High School. Previously, he spent 19 years as a
teacher in the Baltimore County school system. Most recently,
has been an instructor at Franklin Middle and High Schools where
he has been a band director and music department chairman. His
award winning ensembles have been heard at the Maryland State
Band festival, as well as regionally at various festivals and
competitions receiving ratings of superior.
Chris is not new to SHS, as he has served as the marching band
percussion instructor for the past 5 years.
For the past 10 years, Mr. Poole has also been a director for
the Maryland Summer Center for the Arts Orchestra, at Salisbury
University. During this time, he has had the opportunity to
work with strings students in addition to winds and
percussionists.
In 2007 he received the honor to serve as the guest conductor
for the Allegheny County (Maryland) All-County Orchestra.
From 2004-2006, Chris served as percussion instructor and
arranger with the Towson University marching band.
Mr. Poole is a member of the Blue Moon Big Band, where he plays
the saxophones, and a member of the Colgan Hirsh Rock Band.
Mr. Poole is a graduate of Towson University where he holds a
B.A. degree in Music Education and an M.S. degree in Music
Education. He has studied percussion with Dale Rauschenberg and
saxophone with Joe Briscuso.
