Band Boosters Meeting

December 3, 2007

Attendees:  Bethany Meyer, Lynne Hood, Bonny Lutter, Debbie Auberger, Donna Schriver, Jeannine Willianms, Lorna Diebert

Meeting called to order at 7:04.

Secretary’s Report   Minutes from November meeting approved.

Treasurer’s Report   There is approximately $5,600 in the student account and $3,800 in the general fund.

Director’s Report   Mr. Poole could not be here tonight due to a Cavalcade of Bands meeting, but he sent the following: 

§  The Pep Band is starting up.  They will be playing for girls’ and boys’ home basketball games.

§  Miss Packard needs space to store Colorguard equipment at SHS.  We need some volunteers to help re-organize the closet and make some space.  Bethany Meyer volunteered to work on this during drum line practices.

Fundraising 

§  Market Day    Next order deadline: 1/2/08, delivery 1/8/08.

§  Holiday Fundraisers   We reached our goal of selling 500 items.  Overall we sold about $6,500 worth of products.      Pellman’s : We had approximately $2,800 in orders with a profit near $1,000.   Luminaries and poinsettias : profit near $800.  Top sellers: Jordan Delp, Matt Schriver, Sean Macomber.

§  Spirit Table   We can choose a free item (folding stadium seats, blankets, megaphones, golf umbrellas, etc.).  The company will print a sponsor’s name on it and we will not be charged.

§  Basket Bingo   1/19/08.   We really need to hit this hard. Committee is working on all the details. We need to really encourage the students to sell tickets and volunteer at the event. Bingo will start at 6:00, doors open at 4:30. Lynne Hood will ask Maureen Gruber if she would be interested in setting up a table with her jewelry at the event in exchange for a donation of jewelry.  Lynne Hood will order tickets from Al’s printing.

§  Pizza Hut Spirit Night   Bethany Meyer suggests we choose a regular night, such as the second Tues. of each month, and have spirit nights regularly.  We could use different restaurants.

Old Business

• SMS concert, 12/19/07.  We will serve refreshments.  Lynne Hood will be there with 2 cans of hot chocolate mix, Bonny Lutter will help. Debbie Auberger will bring photo albums and cookies.  We need to get the trophy there if possible, and

      we need to ask Donette Yeilding if there is a laptop computer at SMS which we

      could use to display our web site.                 

• Sixth Grade Concert  12/13/07 at SMS.  Mr. McGarvey would like us to set up a display, no refreshments necessary.  We need a volunteer or 2 for this—Bethany Meyer will send out an email asking for volunteers.
• Web Site   Please send pictures and ideas to Brian Schriver at www.warriorbands.org.  It was suggested that we post the names of the students who made it to district band.
• Jazz Fest   York Suburban and William Penn have committed.
• Pep Band   We have 8 players, their first gig will be tomorrow night (12/4/07) at the girls basketball game. Fri (12/7/07) is the first boys’ basketball game.
• Steger Scholarship   There is $2,348.57 in the fund.  We will be awarding a $500 scholarship soon.  The Foundation may match up to $2,000.  We plan to use profits from basket bingo to benefit the scholarship and our student accounts.

Next meeting: Monday, January 7, 2008, 7:00 pm in the SHS band room.
