Secretary’s Report   Minutes from March meeting approved.

Treasurer’s Report   There is currently $7681.09 in the general account and $7,661.02 in the student accounts.

Director’s Report   We just finished a really successful indoor percussion and guard season. The Championships at Southwestern last week made for a very long day but a good one. Championships will be at the Farm Show next year. Drum line came in first, Indoor Guard came in 5th. All seem to agree that they deserved better than 5th—they did great. Both groups made our district proud.

PSSA testing starts soon, which takes a lot of time out of practice for the concert band. We will, however, prepare for our Spring concert.

Marching Band preview night will be held on Tues, April 27.   Rehearsal for percussion and colorguard begin soon afterward and we will be into a new marching season already!

I am really enjoying working with Mr. Quay on Jazz Fest. We will also work together on York Revolution day.

4th quarter requirements for band students are tougher, especially for seniors. Please encourage your students to get started on them early.

We’re working on Arabesque……an .Arabian-sounding, very interesting piece of music, very challenging. Marisa Silva will be conducting “ The Typewriter”, a LeRoy Anderson piece of music. Brooke Silverman will be playing her clarinet concerto. A Sousa march will also be included. The Spring concert should be a good one!

Old Business:

Indoor Percussion and Indoor Guard   Both groups grew this year, both did very well. We really appreciated the athletic dept. working with us on practice times/locations.

It’s still not perfect, but we’re making progress.

K.I.D.A.  Angela Mays and Tedd Wheeler will be attending a meeting on 4/18 and putting our contract in for next year.

Pellman Sale   Sold 451cakes and pies. That number includes what we bought for Jazz Fest. We have about $5700.00 in sales from the students (not including what we bought for Jazz Fest.)  Profit is being figured.

End of Year Banquet   Fri, May 14, 2010   Donette Yeilding is working on this. We’re starting with Grace UM Church because it’s been a good facility in the past. Kim Nace will need help with the food. We need volunteers to pull together an audio-visual presentation. We will get together with the seniors to discuss themes, menu, etc. Mr. Poole could use help getting awards together. Deb Auberger has volunteered for this already!  Thanks Deb J It’s only 5 weeks away—we need to get started! Engraving last year was done at T&J in York—Angela felt prices were reasonable.  Jere Sechrist suggested checking with Ken Zampier at Alexander’s Jewelers—he is local and does a lot for the community.

Elementary Level Jazz Clinic  Mr. McGarvey is working with Curt Sipe on this. We are hoping to pull this off this year for the first time ever.  A few elementary students have been invited to Friday’s jam session. We hope to expand on this next year.
