Married, 3 Children all went to SHS and were in Band.
Still play in Brodbecks Band. |
I was in The High School Band for 5 years. There
were tryouts in 7th grade Middle School Band and I was chosen to
move up to the High School Band. No competitions then. We did do a
new routine every other week. We did the drill for one home and one
away game, then learned a new drill for the next week. Had the old
Maroon and Gray uniforms till my senior year. We got new uniforms
for the fall of 66....The other memory was having 70 people in the old
round band room which is now for Chorus. There wasn't much room. |

Principal's Secretary at Conewago Township Elementary School.
Music Director at Emory United Methodist Church. |
One year I had a piccolo solo. Not during
performances, but just for fun Chris Shearer and I used to play the
solo together. She would blow into the instrument and I did the
fingerings. All of my band memories will be with me forever. It was
one of the best times of my life. We had a wonderful band director,
Mr. Quay, who started in my freshman year and I think went to
another building after my senior year ended. |

We were the first marching band at SHS to enter
competitions, with Mr. Quay as our director. I remember the 1985
Homecoming Game...it absolutely poured and the louder we played, the
harder it rained. All my memories of those years are absolutely
wonderful and I'll never forget them. |

Graduated from York College in 2001 with my BSN in
nursing. I work at York Hospital in the Operating Room. I got
married in May 2004. I still play my various instruments in
Brodbeck's Band (where I have expanded to playing alto sax and I'm
currently learning how to play bassoon). |
Marching band was the best part of being in the high
school band--provided discipline, exercise, and of course a lot of
fun. There are too many memories to put into words. |

currently undergoing training to become an EMT. My career goal is to
be a Firefighter/Medic. I am currently still playing sax and mostly
jazz! Band is a something my whole family did! |
Singing obnoxious songs on the band bus and winning
the Cavalcade Championships my senior year as drum major, that was
very cool! |
